In today’s episode, Rachel Russo, Dating, Relationship & Image Coach and Marriage Educator, interviews three specialists who work with brides – a nutritionist, a hairstylist, and a makeup artist.  They share their insight to help women deal with their need to look perfect on their wedding day.  The advice provided is not just for brides-to-be, but also for their fiancés, many of whom just don’t understand a partner’s strong need for dieting, exercising, grooming, or the endless search for “the” dress.  Both sexes are aware of shows like Say Yes To The Dress, Shedding For The Wedding, and Bridezillas that reinforce the idea of the importance of the wedding day, but do they recognize the pressure around maintaining appearances and how it can put serious strain on a relationship?

It does NOT have to be this way! Rachel and her special guests provide empathy and hope for both parties by informing listeners that they aren’t alone with their image-related concerns. You will learn that there are smart solutions to creating and maintaining your image in a healthy way so it does not affect your relationship.  And, sometimes it’s as simple as planning ahead and managing expectations. Meet New York Times bestselling author and mother Susan and her writer daughter Elizabeth.  They co-wrote How I Planned Your Wedding, The All-True Story of a Mother and Daughter Surviving the Happiest Day of Their Lives. Your show host Holli Ehrlich LOVED this heart warming book and hopes that every mother daughter (and son) tunes in to today’s episode of Here Come the Moms to hear their valuable wisdom and voice of reason.

Elizabeth starts the book with, “I was born to be a bride.”  Susan says, “Does anybody actually dream about being the MOTHER of the bride?”  They are extraordinarily close and relive fond memories about their journey including how they handle their differences with mutual respect and love.  They talk about Dave, Elizabeth’s husband, and the importance of working on your wedding as a couple.  A big white dress is a big white dress, bridesmaids and friendship, investing in a wedding planner, photographer and videographer, how to treat each other and being grateful is all part of this podcast.

Susan and Elizabeth share their feelings, values, apprehension and excitement.  They share their reality and common sense of wedding planning.  Most of the experience is universal.  Ultimately you want to feel respected, listened to and accepting of your plans and this mother daughter duo deliver great ideas, decisions and lessons learned.

Carly, Editor & Founder of The Disney Wedding Blog, found her Prince Charming while working at Walt Disney World on the College Program.  Both lifelong Disney fans, Carly & Kyle, got married at Walt Disney World on a $20,000 budget.  Carly discusses their destination wedding planning experience and highlights her best tips and advice when planning an amazing yet affordable Disney wedding.

Carly tells us there is a perception that Disney weddings are plastic and cookie-cutter, Mickey Mouse events, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.  The Disney Wedding Blog is the unofficial center for all things Disney weddings. The site is an inspiration and information resource for couples planning a wedding, proposal, honeymoon, or vow renewal at any of the Disney theme parks or resort areas.  It is a fan blog for all types of Disney Weddings and is not affiliated with Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons or The Walt Disney Company in any way.  Carly is dedicated to making the journey to a Disney wedding a lot easier. You may recognize our featured newlyweds as the red team from reality television.  Nicole Brewer and Damien Gurganious, contestants on season 7 “The Biggest Loser: Couples”,  enthusiastically share how they met at a water aerobics class at the Y, the two day proposal story, and their wedding planning and weight loss experience. Together they lost more than 250 pounds combined and could not be happier inside and out.

Nicole, a wardrobe stylist and group fitness instructor and Damien, an industrial designer, are creative, ambitious professionals devoted to each other and focused on an active and exciting life.  They talk about what they learned from being on “The Biggest Loser” ranch and how thrilling it is to finally fit into clothes they always wanted to wear, especially walking down the aisle in a figure-flattering strapless Amsale Christos “Eva” gown and Calvin Klein tuxedo.  Red is Nicole’s favorite color so it was only fitting to dress her bridesmaids in a fashionable apple red gown from David’s Bridal.  They may be watching calories but they splurged on a delicious wedding cake called “Biggest Loser’s Praline Bliss”. Here is Tara’s signature Lowcountry Lemonade recipe which can also be found in her beautiful book:

Fill a Zombie glass with plenty of crushed ice
Add 1 ounce Peach Schnapps
Fill remainder glass with lemonade (pink or regular depending on the color you want)

You can change the color to blue by using a small amount of Blue Curacao or to red by using Grenadine.
Use fresh mint to garnish or add a flower (not a poisonous one!)
Enjoy!!!
