Are you a little older?
Do you both work?  Would you want to plan your second wedding
different than your first?  Hyela does and embraces her second walk
down the aisle with much happiness.  Jack, never married before, has
two proposals to make.  Hear how Jack includes Sabrina, Hyela’s
8 year old daughter.  Later in the show you find out that Jack
selected the simple, yet sexy Elizabeth Fillmore wedding dress at
Saks Fifth Avenue.  It’s a red carpet winner for Hyela’s
big day.

Hyela and Jack have a
year to plan their New York City wedding.  They know they want an
intimate and elegant location.  Having no time to really work on a
wedding, they hired an event coordinator, Kristin Manolis of Manolis
& Company Productions.  We asked this busy, engaged couple how
they found Kristin and how they worked together.

Date: Thanksgiving
weekend.  Place: The Essex House.  What next?  This special couple
wanted a party -not a traditional "first" wedding.
Music and entertainment was such important components that they had
a separate coordinator.  Ever think of including your guests into the
lyrics of a song?

Would you want someone
famous to officiate?  At first Jack was not enthusiastic, but was
ultimately touched by former Mayor David Dinkins’ heartfelt
words.  The ceremony was touching & meaningful for Hyela, Jack
and their guests.

Hyela worked very
closely with Kristin when designing floral centerpieces and the
creative stationery system.  Individual menus had beautiful
calligraphy and were presented in the round. Some really unique and
innovative designs were incorporated to reflect this couple’s
taste and personality.

Best advice:
definitely hire an event coordinator.  After interviewing
three or four possible candidates Hyela and Jack were very pleased
with Kristin’s ability to orchestrate and produce a fabulous
wedding.  They said, "Kristin does all the work.
We expressed our desires and chose exactly what we wanted .
Guaranteed you’ll have less mistakes, headaches and hassles."

Do you want to leave an
amazing impression on your guests?  Listen and get some terrific
ideas for your wedding from Hyela and Jack.

Lisa and Matt tell us how they met and share their proposal story.  We asked them what the first thing they did to start planning their wedding.  When?  Where?  Warm climate please!  If it couldn’t be barefoot on the beach then a Sunday afternoon in New York City would be perfect.

Location:  Tavern on the Green – a New York institution overlooking Central Park.  Built to house sheep in 1870, the restaurant became known as Tavern on the Green in 1934.  The setting is perfect for photos.  Lisa and Matt knew that this beautiful venue would be a place they would be able to celebrate anniversaries and special occasions for many years to come.

Four months until the wedding and Lisa needs a dress.  The third dress at the first store?  Did we hear right?  This happy bride-to-be shares her best advice on where to look for your wedding gown.

The ceremony took place in an outdoor garden at Tavern on the Green where 100 guests attended.  Their dog Maggie was the ring bearer.  Lisa and Matt discuss the flowers, the music and the great personalized wedding favors created by their company The Hampton Popcorn Company.   It’s a keepsake to remember the day long after the delicious popcorn is eaten.

Rave reviews from their family and friends.  Guests cited that this wedding day was "theme"  Lisa and Matt tell couples in the midst of planning their wedding to be realistic and not worry about every miniscule detail.  They constantly reminded themselves not to get carried away and did their very best to stay true to their relationship.

WPN found our featured bride via her blog entries posted on weddingbee.com,
one of our favorite places to read about weddings.  We enjoyed Mrs.
Grasshopper’s story and had the privilege to hear all about her 11 month plans
from engagement to honeymoon in Kauai

Karen tells us how she met her husband Alex and how he proposed in Paris
- ooh la la!  What did they plan first?  What was their top
priority?  Was the groom involved?  Bring Sasha beloved dog to the
wedding?  What color for your bridal party?  Write your own
vows?  Flowers?  Music?  Cupcakes?  Answers to these
questions and lots more.

What would you do if no one showed up at your last fitting appointment AND
you learned the gown store was closing?  Karen remains unruffled and
shares the drama of the dress.  This is one story you don’t want to
miss.

Karen used the Internet for many of the resources cited in the
podcast.  She found the web invaluable.  The Knot message boards
proved to be an unbelievable community. Check out the links below.

We asked Karen if she would’ve done anything
differently.  Everything was better than expected.  Her Wedding Day
Quarterback was a tremendous facilitator bringing all the elements
together.  We can all learn a lot from this cool, calm and collected New
York
bride.

This Newlywedcast is with Heather and Vee who were married
in July.  They talk about how they met on
the internet dating site eHarmony.com.
We discuss what that experience was like for them.  Both Heather and Vee are school teachers.  Planning a wedding around school vacation was challenging so they did some
pre-planning.  Hear about how Vee
proposed to Heather and how they involved their families.

Some interesting planning strategies are revealed as we talk
about searching for a location for the wedding reception.  Is it a good thing to have your groom very
involved in the planning process?
Heather talks about how she felt about Vee’s contribution to the wedding
planning.

Personalizing the wedding ceremony was very important to
both the bride and groom.  We learn how
they went about making the ceremony meaningful for themselves, their family
and friends.  A family member even performed
the ceremony.  They also share how they accommodated
their students that were invited to witness their teachers getting married.

We explore the process that they went through in choosing
their wedding vendors.  From the brass quintet
and hand bell choir for the ceremony to the big band that they chose for their
reception.  Vee even sat in with the band
to play sax on a few songs.

We discuss menu selections and special dietary
requirements for the wedding reception.
Finally Heather and Vee talk about their fabulous three week honeymoon in Austria.
